Delegations from the Malaysia International Economic and Social Development Association (MIESDA) including Chairman, Yang Mulia Tengku Faizwa, Secretary General, Mr Stanley Hu Jie Yao and Deputy Secretary, Mr Ngai Chee Yong visited the Tsinghua University Beijing Foundation to explore new opportunities for academic partnership, research collaboration, and talent development between Malaysia and China. The meeting was hosted by Mr. Ji and Ms. Sang, senior representatives of the Foundation.
The engagement served as an important platform to discuss how both institutions can jointly contribute to advancing regional education cooperation, innovation capacity building, and cross-border intellectual exchange. The Foundation shared insights into Tsinghua University’s global development initiatives, scholarship programs, academic-industry linkage models, and its long-term strategy to expand international cooperation.
During the session, MIESDA’s Chairman, Yang Mulia Tengku Faizwa, introduced its mission to promote Malaysia’s socioeconomic development through international collaboration, emphasizing the growing importance of higher education partnerships, youth leadership programs, and academic mobility in shaping the next generation of regional talent.
Both sides discussed several areas of mutual interest, including:
- Joint programs for student exchange and academic training
- Research collaboration in fields such as green technology, digital economy, and public policy
- Opportunities to connect Malaysian institutions with Tsinghua-affiliated research platforms
- Talent development initiatives supporting Malaysia–China bilateral cooperation
- Potential future dialogues, symposiums, and long-term cooperation mechanisms
Mr. Ji and Ms. Sang expressed strong interest in strengthening ties with Malaysian institutions through MIESDA’s network and emphasized Tsinghua University’s commitment to playing an active role in international education and cross-border knowledge exchange.
The meeting concluded with both parties agreeing to continue communication and explore the establishment of a structured collaboration framework, including academic visits, research partnerships, and student development initiatives.
This visit marks a significant step forward in MIESDA’s efforts to elevate Malaysia–China educational and innovation collaboration, strengthening the bridge between leading academic institutions and fostering a new chapter of bilateral knowledge partnerships.
